Organized and federally recognized 21 December 1925 in the North Carolina National Guard as the Service Battery, 117th Field Artillery, and element of the 31st Division, at Kinston, North Carolina.
Redesigned 12 January 1927 as the Service Battery, 113th Field Artillery, and element of the 30th Division (Subsequently the 30th Infantry Division).
Inducted into federal service 16 September 1940 at Kinston, Disbanded 31 March 1941 at Fort Jackson, South Carolina. Reconstituted 25 August 1945 and allotted to the North Carolina National Guard.
Reorganized and federally recognized 26 August 1948 ad Headquarters and Headquarters Battery, 196th Field Artillery Group, at Kinston.
Consolidated 1 April 1959 with Battery B, 295th Field Artillery Battalion (organized and federally recognized 20 April 1953 at Kinston) and consolidated united converted and redesigned as Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 1st Battle Group, 119th Infantry, and element of the 30th Infantry Division.
Redesigned 10 March 1963 as Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 5th Battalion, 119th Infantry, an element of the 30th Infantry Division.
Converted and redesigned 1 January 1968 as Headquarters and Headquarters Detachment, 690th Maintenance Battalion and relieved from assignment to the 30th Infantry Division.
Reorganized and transformed 1 September 2006 as 690th Brigade Support Battalion an element of the 130th Maneuver Enhancement Brigade formally the 30th Engineer Group.
Reorganized 01 October 2008 under the 113th Sustainment Brigade, formerly the 113th Field Artillery Brigade.
Reorganized 01 October 2013 under 130th Maneuver Enhancement Brigade based out of Charlotte, North Carolina
