We are proud to announce that our very own Dr. Grisham has been named Regional Principal of the Year by Magnet Schools of America!!!!! This annual award recognizes magnet school principals from eight regions who have demonstrated a strong commitment to maximizing learning opportunities for all students through theme-based education, while also setting high expectations within their schools and communities. Dr. Grisham will be recognized and receive the Regional Magnet School Principal of the Year Award during an awards ceremony held at Magnet Schools of America’s National Conference in May. She is also eligible to be chosen as the National Magnet School Principal of the Year, which will be announced on the last day of the national conference.

It’s one extraordinary day to support the charities that make Nevada special, and it’s your chance to make a real impact! Sandy Miller Elementary School has a project posted that could use your help if you'd like to "Give where you live" today! On Monday, March 14, 2016, Team 51 will be having a Bench Brunch, from 8:00 to 9:00 am, in room 51. The purpose of this brunch is to bring the Buddy Bench to Sandy Miller Elementary School. The Buddy Bench originated in Germany and was brought to the U.S. by a student at Roundtown Elementary School. Has your child ever been alone at recess? Your child can sit on the bench and other kids would spot them. The people that see him/her would invite the child to play with them, or the lonely child could play with other students on the bench. They will make friends, not bullies. At the brunch, we will be giving out juice and donuts for a small donation (suggested mount $5.00). All of these donations will go to creating the Buddy Bench. We would also greatly appreciate donations of cups, juice, donuts, or any other pastry. If you are able to provide Team 51 with any of these items, please contact Ms. Smethurst. Hope to see you there.

Greeting Sandy Miller Families! We need your help to secure some new supplies for our indoor hydroponics lab! We have enlisted the expert help of Bill from AAA Hydroponics (A3organicslv.com) to help get our hydroponics lab safely running and teachers trained to use the tools properly. He was so inspired by our school’s interest in teaching hydroponics that he offered us a deal - if we can have 50 people “share” this post, he will donate some new grow lights to our lab! Thanks for supporting our efforts to share a wonderful community contact with others all while gaining new tools for our lab, and thanks to Bill for getting our hydroponics lab up and running!!!
