The Polar Bear Society
Description
The purpose of the society is to preserve Hammerfests traditions as a fishing town. The Polar bear Society, or "Isbjørnklubben", is located in Hammerfest, the worlds most Northern town. Because of the towns' favorable location, it has long had close ties to hunting and fishing in the northern waters.
The club will endeavor to collect and preserve for posterity the memories and treasures of historical and commercial interest. These artifacts are presented in our FREE ENTRANCE exhibition.
You may also join our club and help support local history by keeping the exhibition free, and will then receive a little memorial of your donation.

🇬🇧️ The first section of the Polar Bear Society's exhibition is showing a selection of stuffed animals. All of them you can find in our region... with one exception: the polar bear! There were never any wild polar bears in Hammerfest. It is a symbol for the town's local history and the will power and strength of its people.
