How did those containers hold? The Greek ship MV Rena, (later) broke in two after grounding on the Astrolabe Reef, New Zealand, on 5 October 2011. The subsequent oil spill has been described as New Zealand's worst maritime environmental disaster.[1] On 8 January 2012 the Rena broke in two after enduring heavy winds and seas overnight,[2] and had almost completely sunk within a few more days.[3] References: ^ "'Worst maritime environmental disaster'". The best photo I could find came with watermarks whose origins I could not confirm due to the generic name Turborider.

The Malwiya Minaret was part of the Great Mosque of Samarra in IRAQ. 02 In its time, it was the largest mosque in the largest city in the world. The spiral minaret is one of Iraq's main tourist attractions and features on Iraqi banknotes. It was built alongside the mosque which was an indicator of the wealth and power of the caliphate, as well as an indicator of the presence of Islam in the city. The minaret was originally connected to the mosque by a bridge (848–852AD). In 2005 the top of the Malwiya minaret was damaged by a bomb. Iraqi police said insurgents blew up the top section of the 52m (162ft) tower, which had previously been used by US soldiers as a lookout position, although US troops had pulled out of the site a month before.^ Further reading: http://art251.web.unc.edu/?page_id=749 (very interesting!)
