We serve as a connection to bring children and families together. A Better Chance for Our Children is unique in that we primarily work to place children with special needs in families:

Children between the ages of 0 and 18 who have physical, emotional, or cognitive challenges or disabilities;

Children in sibling groups;

Racially-mixed children;

Infants with significant medical challenges;

Children from other countries involved in international adoptions.

Post-Adoption Training! REGISTRATION REQUIRED! Join us on Tuesday, May 17th from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. as Kathy Newquist Snyder, LCSW, a local therapist in Georgetown, discusses parenting tips and information about parenting children who have been traumatized. Kathy has been involved with children for her entire career, first as a worker and supervisor of foster care for Children and Families First and now as a trauma informed therapist. Bring your questions as we have found that an open forum best meets everyone’s needs. These programs are open to ALL Delaware adoptive families as well as families who have guardianship of children who have exited from the State of Delaware foster care system. These programs are FREE to adoptive families and foster families are welcome. Certificates of attendance will be available. Child Care is available for children above the age of 2. Post-Adoption Training! February 25th, in our Milford location (805 S. DuPont, Blvd). Do you want to learn about Helping Families Work Productively with Schools. Teaching this is Heather Bethurum has had a career in education for 22 years; she is now serving her 6th year as a school administrator in Delaware. At this training Heather will spend time unraveling how to advocate for your foster/adoptive child within the school system. Please bring any questions you may have about the educational process. Don’t be shy, your questions will help others. Registration is required. A Better Chance For Our Children

We are very excited to tell you of our first Post- Adoption training which will take place on Tuesday, January 26th, at 6:30 P.M. at the offices of ABCFOC at 1307 Philadelphia Pike, Wilmington, 19809. It is entitled “Street Drugs: How They are Impacting Our Children and Our Communities.” Our speaker, James Harrison, is a man who understands this topic and can help families learn how important this is. James is a sensitive, caring man who have provided a life line to so many. We are grateful to have him share his experiences and his expertise with us. Please make plans to join us!
