Meditation in Madison
Description
Kadampa Meditation Center Madison is a welcoming place for everyone. We offer meditation and Modern Buddhist teachings for all levels of experience. Kadampa Meditation Center Madison is a friendly and welcoming place for everyone.
We offer meditation classes for all levels of experience. Our class design always includes two guided meditations and a short talk or teaching on a topic suitable for busy, modern people.
We also offer study programs for those interested in increasing their understanding and experience of Buddhist philosophy and practice. Our classes, day courses, study programs, chanted prayers and pujas offer a variety of events for everyone. You do not have to be a Buddhist to attend the classes, or benefit from the techniques taught.
Our center is dedicated to helping everyone develop and maintain their own inner peace, which naturally reduces problems and eliminates stress. We have a resident teacher, Gen Kelsang Gomlam, who teaches most of the classes and leads the meditations. Kadampa Meditation Center Madison is a non-profit organization and a member of the New Kadampa Tradition-International Kadampa Buddhist Union (NKT-IKBU).
We are open 30 minutes before every event, and on the weekends from 1-4. Please drop in!

Thursdays June 7-21 7:00-8:30 PM. Everyone welcome! Losing the people and things we like and dealing with unwanted changes is a part of life, but can sometimes feel painful. We tend to believe that relationships, jobs, possessions and other external things alone will give us the lasting pleasure, comfort and security we crave, but in the end, they can never do this. Through meditation we can develop a mental resilience that will keep us happy and peaceful in even the most challenging circumstances.
Generally around Mother’s Day, we have an opportunity to appreciate the kindness of our mother, a kindness we have received throughout our life. Buddha gave profound teachings on the kindness of mothers to help us with this recognition. Gen Kelsang Gomlam will explain how to practice these teachings so that we can feel closer to our mother, all those who have nurtured us, and finally all living beings. Bring your mom in person, or in your heart. Everyone welcome! Our Meditation for Kids Class will also have a special teaching and activities on this day.
