Match Dog Show
The M&E AKC-sanctioned B-Match show offers an opportunity for those with American Kennel Club registered dogs to practice their dog showing skills. Along with the five match show rings, we are planning “My Dog Fun Day” attractions for all dogs and their owners, such as the AKC “My Dog Can Do That” beginning agility / obedience course, barn hunt fun tes, New Jersey State Police K-9 Schutzhund demonstrations, Pee Wee handling exhibition (children 5 to 9 years of age) Junior Handling Class demonstrations. The event will also be an AKC Responsible Dog Owners Day celebration with Canine Good Citizen testing. And this year we are having a special activity, a Mixed Breed Dog Show open for all non-purebred dogs -- an echo of the "pet shows" that that the town of Madison held in the 1940s and '50s. There will be an assortment of vendors selling dog-related products and services. We are looking forward to the return of 10 breed clubs to also hold their specialty matches again. Representatives from breed clubs will host “Meet the Breeds” areas where club members and their dogs will be on hand to answer questions and invite interested spectators to learn more about their breeds, clubs and programs. The Match Show Fun is part of the Bottle Hill Festival on Saturday, October 1st, 2016. There will be five stages with live entertainment, the Madison Area antique car show, a beer garden, amusement areas and 200-plus exhibitors, including not-for-profit groups, craftspeople, local businesses and food establishments. The festival spans nearly six blocks of street vendors and Madison merchant sidewalk sales, including the Historic Madison Downtown District.
