Welcome to the Center for Energy and Environmental Studies, and thanks for visiting.  I hope you find the breadth and depth of our course offerings and faculty expertise to fit your education goals and career aspirations. A hallmark of our programs is flexibility: energy and environment are topics that cover vast ground and we think are best served by an open curriculum that builds on the depth of our core courses.  What this means is that the elective course offerings you see listed in these web pages are just a portion of a huge number of relevant graduate courses you can take for credit toward your graduate degree from BU.  Working with a faculty adviser, you can identify elective courses that are tailored to your specific career interests.  Students can and have taken elective graduate courses in everything from the energy and environment dimensions of Eco-Tourism, to Sustainable Agriculture, to Directed Study on Boston’s Urban Metabolism. In addition, internships for credit can provide great career focus and a springboard for future career directions, whether it be an independent green entrepreneur operating at a hyper-local scale, or policy analyst at the global level.

Be sure to check out our updated career pages, and visitors to my blog are always welcomed.

Best wishes,
Nathan Phillips, Director
