Boston University Model United Nation Association
Description
http://www.buiaa.org The Boston University Model UN Association rebranded as the Boston University International Affairs Association in 2009. A collegiate Model UN conference (BarMUN), a high school conference (BosMUN) and a collegiate MUN travel team continue to be hosted by BUIAA.
For BarMUN (held in October) and BosMUN (held in February), members serve on a Secretariat or as Chairs, Vice Chairs, Crisis Directors and Crisis Staff for these respective conferences. In these capacities members derive ideas for committees, write background guides and crisis plans which are then utilized the weekend of the conferences.
In addition, BUIAA members have the chance to apply to a competitive Model UN travel team. A new team is selected for each conference by application before training to compete at seven collegiate conferences held around the country and internationally. Delegates take on roles as diplomats, investigating international issues, and working to develop solutions to world problems. Vigorous preparation, in-depth research, and training sessions held by the Executive Board, allow members to compete among the most elite schools on the collegiate Model UN circuit.
Though Model UN activities, BUIAA offers an excellent opportunities for students from a myriad of disciplines to hone public speaking, problem solving, writing, finance, operations, team building, event planning, and management skills. Uniting around a common interest in world affairs, member involvement fuels a unique and engaging approach to learning about diverse topics in an interactive and collaborative way.
