Community Arts & Recreation Centre offering a varied programme of events and activities. The venue is available to hire for a range of private functions.
St. John’s ARC is a community Arts and Recreation Centre and registered charity, set in a secluded corner of Old Harlow.

We offer a varied programme of activities and events for all ages which include concerts, exhibitions and workshops.

We have two main hiring spaces at the ARC; the Hall and the Vestry Room. The Refectory can also be hired, either separately or in combination with another room hire.

The Hall is an imposing space measuring 60ft x 30ft. The high vaulted ceiling and stained glass lend light and character to this unique venue. Many different types of functions have been held here, ranging from Anniversary, Christening and Birthday Parties to large Public Meetings, Concerts and Barn Dances.

There is a capacity for 200 people and we can offer kitchen facilities that can support most functions.

The Vestry Room is a smaller space of 30ft x 15ft, suitable for meeting, community groups and smaller gatherings.

The ARC is the home of local choral group, Harlow Chorus. The organisation hold their regular practice meetings at the ARC due to the fine acoustic in the Hall.

ARC is a  member of the Harlow Cultural Venues Forum. Other members include Parndon Mill, The Gibberd Garden, Gibberd Gallery and The Victoria Hall Theatre.

Harlow music lovers should brace themselves for something quite extraordinary for Petters Jazz Night this evening. As a recent review said, “...get your feet tapping and your jaw dropping at the speed of his fingers. Top quality musicianship and utter entertainment”. The young genius who grabbed the reviewer’s attention is Ben Holder, probably the most gifted swing violinist to emerge since Stephane Grapelli. Ben will be returning, for one night only, with John Petters Swing Band, here from 8pm. Expect a programme which includes American Songbook items “Cheek to Cheek”, which was recently recorded by Lady Ga Ga and Tony Bennett, to Fats Waller’s, “Ain’t Misbehavin’, Gerswin’s “Lady Be Good” and “Liza”and much more. A first call jazz violinist for many of the North's top bands and studios, Ben will take the stage alongside popular, star pianist, J J Vinten, Harlow bass ace, Keith Donald and ex Harlow drummin’ man, John Petters for what promises to be an evening of musical fireworks of dazzling quality. Admission is just £10. Get there early – for this is guaranteed to be a concert to remember for those lucky enough to attend. https://www.youtube.com/watchv=YyVW60skz_8&feature=youtu.be
