Club Foot is based at Burnt Mill Academy, First Avenue, Harlow, Essex CM20 2NR
An initiative from the Burnt Mill Academy Trust, Club Foot (named after the Kasabian song) played host to Brekfest 2017 which saw a live broadcast of the Christian O'Connell Breakfast Show with a live performance from Kasabian. The aim is to provide a community live performance venue with events for all ages easily accessible for the Harlow community and beyond.
Why 'Club Foot'?
Part of the Absolute Radio Brekfest competition included a challenge to rewrite the lyrics of a Kasabian song outlining our community venue pitch. Students from Burnt Mill Academy performed a reworked version of Kasabian's 'Club Foot' which was chosen on air as the winner.

Tomorrow (Thurs) some of our team will be presenting at this event in association with Public Piano Project - Harlow. The aim is to use the Instrument Of Change Screening with Henri Herbert & Chas Hodges event as the launch of a project to get a piano installed in a public space in Harlow for the use of the community. On Thursday at the Harlow Soup event we and 3 other projects will pitch our idea which will then go to a vote by the attendees. If you like the idea of our project and would like to support it then please come along tomorrow evening to Phoenix Live (West Gate, Harlow Town Centre) and join in this great community funding evening. Rockney star Chas Hodges – one half of Chas & Dave – is helping to launch a musical campaign in Harlow. The musician, whose partnership is famed for its pub singalong style of music, appears in new film Instrument of Change: Street Piano. The documentary looks at the trend of street pianos which are popping up around the world and bring players and audiences together. A screening by Club Foot at Burnt Mill Academy, in Harlow, will be attended by Chas and Henri Herbert, former member of The Jim Jones Revue. who will also perform live on the night. The event will be the launch of a fundraising project to bring street pianos to public places in Harlow Public Piano Project - Harlow. Adam Smith, Club Foot venue manager, said: “I’m really excited to be able to host this event. After watching the film, I was inspired to do something. “I’ve worked with Henri and Chas on many occasions, promoting their gigs in Harlow and travelling the country with them. A YouTube clip of Henri performing on a public piano at St Pancras station, which has been viewed more than 16 million times, always grabs people’s attention. “This is the start of a wider project where we would like to see pianos in public spaces in Harlow and Stansted. I see daily in schools how a piano can draw people together and how it highlights a common interest in those who may not necessarily interact otherwise. “This is the first event like this we have held. It’s more than just a screening as we’ll have the filmmaker and some of the stars of the film in attendance and performing, making it a fully interactive experience.” Henri said: “Street pianos are a fun way to bring people together and share stories.” To attend the screening, at 7.30pm on March 29, book £10 tickets on musicglue.com/clubfootharlow
