facebook.comShurdington 2nds arrived at local rivals Witcombe on beautiful sunny day. Captain chris Loveridge set the tone for the day by winning the toss and quickly asked the hosts to bat. New boy Michael Hunter took the new ball with Megan Randall. With hunter having radar problems and the 2 wily openers looking to get at Randall the 2nds were grateful for an absolutely outstanding catch at 1st slip off Randall by clifford. Confident scot Claridge came in at 3 and instantly looked assured at the crease. Prompting skipper Loveridge to ring the changes. After a brief chat with inspirational vice captain clifford the decision was to bring on young Charlie Knight who took to the task of removing ex 1st team player Claridge and with his new sensible head on purely gave Claridge the biggest smile of joy, a look that spoke more than a thousand words. Jack ebdon got in on the act with a quick double bowling the number 4 batsman 1st ball with a delivery which would have sent back many a fine batsman. Well bowled sir. After Witcombe's quick start Shurdington had got themselves back in the game with some smart bowling. Finn Thom bowling a marvellous 6 over spell for 12 runs, with only a wicket missing. With some sensible batting down the order Witcombe ended their innings 192 for 9. Randall with 3 wickets and ebdon 3 wickets. Shurdington set about the chase with ebdon and young Dan Rackley opening up. Ebdon was out quickly to a poor shot. Entered skipper Loveridge looking for runs. The score ticked along. Rackley was out after 10 overs after looking assured and I think we will have plenty of good times ahead from this young man. Tim perks and mason tea were removed quickly which sent vice clifford in. Loveridge lost his head and stumps all in one ball and new lad hunter joined clifford. The 2 set about changing the game with a match winning partnership of 80. Clifford was out cutting a short wide ball from Claridge giving Witcombe a sniff again but the confident fin Thom helped hunter through to 193 for a very deserved win. A month ago we would have lost this game but I think our young side are learning and it was very pleasing to be involved and get the win. Well done boys and girls.
Chrisy Loveridge barmy army!! Barmy army barmy army !!

Fantastic win in the sun for the 1st XI today. Having won the toss Keith elected to field and his decision was immediately vindicated when James Nicol and Keith himself struck to leave Rockhampton 1-2 from 2. Rockhampton never got to grips with a wicket which showed occasional low bounce and a steady flow of wickets restricted the visitors to 103 all out. Shurdington were never really troubled in response and cruised to 104-1 from 21 overs to complete a comfortable and deserved win. Just for you Dave Thom!!
