Our Club President Geoff Moorcock spent many happy years piloting both 500cc and 1000cc Sidecars, before hanging up his leathers and piloting the club tractor. Grasstrack has been his life and since losing his dear wife Joan three years ago life has become harder and he now resides in a Care home in Bocking. He's happy but misses as he put's it his old grasstrack friends. His daughter Lynne has arrange a get together and would like any of those old and not quite so old grasstrack friends to come and surprise him next Sunday. So if your a friend of Geoff's please come and say Hi! It is what he wants and would make his day.

After a frustrating season the 500cc Sidecar Association have decided that the running of the 500cc Sidecar Super Series is not in their plans for 2018. The race series has run for three seasons, provided three different champions and has provided a showcase for the class at venues throughout the UK and Holland. The decision to end the series has not been an easy one, but with the club suffering heavy losses in 2017 it has now become a necessary step to ensure the future of the 500cc Sidecar Association. It will still be the club’s aim to promote 500cc sidecar racing, the whole reason the Association was formed in the first place. And although the committee still has to be finalised at the forthcoming AGM, the club is aiming to run two meetings at it’s ever improving Chelmsford venue in 2018. The Association would like to thank all it’s sponsors for their support over the years including Northeast Demolition, Rock Oil, Wulfsport, Dave Brown, Amicus Insurance, Knox, D-Star, Inner City Environmental, Essex Wheels, Oakmere Group, Anglian Environmental and Trevor Steward. We would also like to thank all the organising clubs would have staged us and the riders for making it such an exciting series. One last note to everyone involved, as we have already said, just because there is no organised series, that's not the end of the 500cc Sidecar class, lets not get negative about things. The Super Series has shown the UK what a great class we are, providing close, fast and exciting racing wherever we appear. Lets continue to do so in 2018.

TODAY'S EVENT IS ON It's the Final of the 500cc Sidecar Super Series at our Chelmsford track. Who will the champions be for 2017? Three teams are still in the running for the top of that rostrum! Supported by a top class solo field including 2 x European champion James Shanes, No.3 in Europe Ed Kennett and GB Longtrack international Richard Hall. The 1000ccc include British Masters Champions Mark Cossar/ Carl Blyth, Clubmans Champions Tom Cossar/Wayne Rickards and the returning Rob Wilson/Terry Saunters who have tasted success at this track. One final note get well soon Archie Vale injured in that nasty spill yesterday. Thank you to the Youth and GT140 riders who acted with such sportsmanship after the meeting was cut short. Most of all thank you to our Paramedics and the Essex Air Ambulance whose response was superb. Not forgetting the marshals and officials who acted so professionally.
