Another report should be in Times & Citizen this Thursday. with most of the Summer KO finals results - Mowsbury Golf Club Summer Knock-outs Saturday 24th September saw most of the Men’s Summer knock-out finals being played, where many of the 2016 Honours Board places were decided. Two competitions have yet to be played as players reached two finals. These are the Scratch Knock-out and the Vice Captain’s Cup for division 1. In the Veterans Cup over 65’s; Eric Tester beat John Robinson on the final hole to win 1 up. In the Upton Cup for Division 2; Keith Allen won 3 and 2 against Lindon Nelson. The Bygrave Cup for Division 3 was won by Ian Peacock who won 2 and 1 against Tim Daniels. The Underwood Cup for Division 4 was won by Patrick Carroll who won the last hole to beat Keith Shirley 1 up. The betterball pairs knock-out for the Secretary’s Cup was won by Suky Sehmbi and Ravi Sembhi who beat Chris Hope and Michael Hill by 2 holes up. The Seniors Tankard for over 55‘s was won by John Jones who beat Pete Frost by winning the final hole to finish 1 up. In the Clementine Cup Mixed Foursomes final, the holders; John Broughton and his daughter Emily successfully defended their title, winning 2 holes up against Alicia Hawking and Nigel Danes.

Club Championships for 2016 done and dusted - I've just sent the following report to Times & Citizen - it should be in this Thursday's issue.:- Mowsbury Golf Club - 2016 Club Championships Mowsbury Golf Club held their 2016 Club Championships, playing over 36 holes – 18 each on Saturday 3rd and Sunday 4th September. Mrs. Aprille Jones successfully defended the title she won in 2014 and 2015 to become the 2016 Ladies Club Champion. Runner-up was Assunta Spina. The Ladies nett winner was Pat Quickenden, on countback from Linda Jamieson in runner-up spot. Front nine winners were Anne McGregor for the first round and Alicia Hawking for the second round, and back nine winners were Diane Cruz for the first round and Emily Broughton for the second round. The Men’s section titles played for were Club Champion, Mowsbury Cup (Men’s nett winner) and Senior Club Champion. With no previous winners taking part, the new name on the Cup and title of Club Champion went to Michael Twigg with rounds of 72 and 75 for a total of 147 to win by 8 shots. Second place was James Dougan with rounds of 79 and 76 for a total of 155. Third place went to Mark Middleton with rounds of 80 and 77 for a total of 157. The Nett Champion and winner of the Mowsbury Cup was Tom Kelk with nett rounds of 73 and 66 playing off a handicap of 12 to win by a single shot from Joe Thompson in second place, with rounds of 71 and 69 for a nett total of 150. Mark Weatherill placed third with rounds of 74 and 70 nett playing off a handicap of 8. Senior Club Champion was Tony Bavaro with nett rounds of 68 and 71 for a total of 139, to win by 4 shots from Vice Captain; Mick Jennion on 143 beating Paul Cave into 3rd place. Best nett for round 1 went to Suky Sehmbi, and in round 2 to Alan Heaume. Best gross for round 1 went to Michael Hill, and in round 2 to Terry Gardner.
