Nurture by Nature is an integrated holistic approach to outdoor play and learning for children in a rich and natural learning environment.
Tel :0876217778 Inspiring Children through Nature, Nurture by Nature outdoor preschool is the first outdoor preschool in Galway offering a unique and holistic approach to outdoor play and learning for young children (due to open in September 2015). Based in Clarinbridge at Kilcornan Estate and Woodlands the children will be immersed in the beauty of nature in a beautiful walled garden and surrounding woodlands. As a mother of two young children, I experience the outdoors and its natural beauty on a daily basis and see how engaged and at peace all children are when immersed in it. They seem at one with it naturally playing, learning and exploring.
A  nurturing indoor learning environment is also provided in Nurture by Natures indoor centre. Inspired by the philosophies of Scandanavian and German Kindergartens, Rudolf Steiner among many other early childhood philosophers, Nurture by Nature promotes the importance of outdoor play experiences for children to engage their senses, inspire curiosity, awe, wonder and fuel creativity and imagination~ essential ingredients for exploration, learning and natural development at their own pace. Emphasis will be on respect, wonder and reverence for nature and the human being where childhood is to be celebrated and not rushed. " Let the children be, let the children play naturally". Our programme will be an integrated play based emergent curriculum underpinned by the National Aistear Curriular framework carried out in a flexible manner which affords the children choice and follows the natural rhythms and emergent interest of the child. Experiencing nature all year round enables children to observe change, introducing them to the patterns and cycles of seasons which provide an ever changing and diverse environment with infinite possibilities and opportunities- planting vegetables in spring, hunting for mini beasts in the summer, building dens and rolling in leaves in Autumn or crunching frost and ice underfoot in winter.. All of these opportunities provide the children time and space to connect with themselves and nature. Other activities that will be offered in a warm, nurturing environment will include storytelling, relaxation and mindfulness program, Yoga and Qi Gong, Organic gardening, seasonal fruit picking, feeding animals, music, games and circle time activities, art, Dress up and Role play, cooking/baking.

It is a crucial time in Irish society to recognise how children are being deprived of the benefits of outdoors and the nurturing environment that nature and its beauty offers. In an era where Nature Deficit Disorder is a recognised condition my vision and dream is to reconnect children with nature and themselves through as much hands on experiences as possible in our nurturing outdoor space behind our centre,in the beautiful walled garden and exploring the woodlands.

Perhaps it could be optional and not mandatory to keep all sides content??!!!! ☆The Homework Debate☆ I do agree that it causes huge stress and frustrations on both children and parents after an already long day at school sitting, learning and concentrating. The brain can only absorb so much in one day and children could benefit more from unstructured free play, incidental learning at home, reading for pleasure etc. Alot of study, research and trials on this topic is happening in other countries and they see an increase in children's wellbeing, energy and enthusiam for learning each day in school having got rid of homework. A discussion worth having going forward.....
