Like a lot of people, I'm not a natural runner - I've had to work at it. But when you find something you enjoy, you tend to stick at it and inevitably get better at it. Over the last 10 years as a fitness professional, I've discovered I have a natural knack for teaching people to run. It comes very easily to me. I think what sets me apart from most coaches is my ability to simplify running and translate it to my clients in such a way they can relate to it and then apply it. I think not being a natural athlete also helps me relate to the everyday struggles that most people have when they start running - such as breathing issues, a tightening of the chest and shoulders and those days you feel you're dragging yourself along the road. But through perseverance and doing the simple things over and over again, you'll find it becomes so much easier and relaxing - to the point where you start enjoying it. And when you start enjoying something, you'll keep doing it.
