Work and play makes Dearbhalla a very happy girl. Creating the space to allow myself to get into a creative space is the purpose of this trip. The long pushed back website update and new programme development are getting the injection of energy and time that they needed to get ready for back to school / back to normal phase of the year. Stepping back from busy, busy is easier said than done! But I have to practice what I preach! This is what I needed to hear today ‘To me conquering freedom means conquering simplicity.’- Joan Miró #dowhatyoulove #createspace #slowdown #stopreflectrefocus #selfcare #selfconpassion

‎Women at Work: The Advice We Get and Give on Apple Podcasts

This morning month I am really enjoying... Taking more time to listen to podcasts. I’m a big fan of Oprah Winfrey’s Super Soul Conversations. Every time I listen, I wholeheartedly agree when she opens with ‘the greatest gift that we can give ourselves, is time’. HBRs Women at Work Series sits really well too. Sooo much of this particular episode resonates and reflects the most transformational (and impactful) work that I do with clients - especially (but not always) aspiring female leaders. Give yourself a gift of time this summer, in the car or beside the pool or on a sofa with a glass of wine and have a listen. Listen to The Advice We Get and Give from Women at Work in Podcasts. https://podcasts.apple.com/ie/podcast/women-at-work/id1336174427?i=1000405558448

Harvard Business Review

This is a really interesting study, highlighting what we already know but maybe need a reminder of - that It’s not just a matter of mothers being at home versus at work, it’s what they do when they’re at home with their non-work time. Of particular note for me, in the context of the recurring issue of guilt about working hours that arises in our workshops, are:- ‘For mothers, having authority and discretion at work was associated with mentally healthier children. That is, we found that children benefit if their mothers have control over what happens to them when they are working’. Yay for influencing for flexible working options. And knowing that progressing your career does not have to impact your parenting and your kids. Length of working hours did not impact children’s behaviour, but digital interference does. Mum’s time spent on self-care activities did not impact children’s behaviour, but excessive time on housework does (presence at play again). It’s all about being present when you are present.

Mindfulness Ireland

On holidays at the moment and enjoying the slow pace. Reflecting much on how to do less, and by so doing, do more of what is important. If only we could bottle the holiday vibe!

Happy Mother’s Day to all the amazing mommas in here. My favorite part of the day is the excitement of presenting their home-made/school-made cards! I asked my eldest if he really believed this whole list - even the last word. He burst out laughing and said I just couldn’t think of anything else for ‘r’. He knows me well 🤣🤣🤣 Have a lovely day!

It’s time to go back to work. Our mission was to have a slow Christmas. No running, no rushing. I re-found the pleasure of sitting and reading, we watched lots of (possibly too much) TV, we drank and ate too much, hung out with family and friends, did nice stuff, and I baked. A lot. That’s why it’s time to get back to work! #newyear #timetostop #timetogethealthy
