I sit here trying to write this THANK YOU, and I feel at a loss for words. Yesterday at our #barbellsforbrooke event, after final calculations, we were able to raise $3500 for our very own @brookemaschi! There are so many thank you- yesterday was a total blast and Nick & I couldn’t have done it without the power of our community & the community of #kingston• • First off, we cannot thank our Volunteers enough!! They were there the night before, the day of, Ive never seen a tear down and clean up go so fast! Their attitudes were always positive, the day was crazy but everyone was happy and cheering everyone on... it was just wonderful! • • To @elitepowerlifting.ca and @jordanmoffitt from @baconandbarbells.co - you guys were AMAZING! They came up from Guelph early in the morning and did a lot of the leg work! Loading and unloading bars, brought their equipment up, and were there till the very end! If you guys are looking to get into #powerlifting, I would check out the Polo brothers meets and Jordan’s apparel line! Such genuine and just awesome people!• • To our sponsors! Ah! New Blog Post! Our mindset can literally change our heart! It can make it healthier. The things we tell ourselves hold weight. They have power. There are many things that are trying to bring us down. I won’t let my mind do it. I do a lot of work on self-care. This is one of my methods. I believe it helps me stay injury free, avoid burnout and keep a pretty happy demeanor most of the time. Barbells for Brooke is a powerlifting meet where STAVE OFF can empower our community to show both their physical and emotional strength for Brooke. This is going to be a fun day – no singlets, no federations, no weight classes. Just lifting weights and lifting the spirits of those in our community that need it. Participants will have three attempts to find their heaviest squat, bench press, and deadlift that they can perform. There will be music and people cheering you on! This event is open to the public. All proceeds will be given to Brooke Maschi to help her cope during this difficult time. STAVE OFF has a community that supports each other; they are there to support each other through both the good times and the bad. On December 14th, 2017, a Hydro One helicopter attempted an emergency landing that resulted in the unfortunate passing of four young individuals. Left behind are loved ones and family members that are now trying to become accustomed to their new ‘normal’. Brooke Maschi is a member of the STAVE OFF community whose life changed forever this past December. Brooke has been grieving the loss of Jeff, her significant other, who passed away in the accident. With the loss of a loved one comes financial challenges, which is the last thing anyone wants to think about when they’re grieving.
