If you have Lupus I recommend avoiding NSAIDS (non steroid anti inflammatory drugs), such as ibuprofen or naproxen. NSAIDS can cause acute interstitial nephritis in those who are susceptible. These NSAID drugs can cause a restriction in the blood flow to the kidneys putting them under strain. The data for taking baby aspirin if you have kidney problems appears to show it is safe.

Protein for breakfast can really help to reduce afternoon slumps in fatigue. Carbohydrates on the other hand make the blood sugar level spike up and drop down quite rapidly and this can contribute to fatigue. Good sources of morning protein are things like eggs (if tolerated), chia seeds, nutty granola (if tolerated), a slice of chicken or a small piece of fish.

Did you know that we need cholesterol? Every single cell in our body has a membrane which is made up of phospholipids, cholesterol, proteins, and carbohydrates. We need cholesterol! If our cell membranes don't have enough of these components they lack integrity and are weak. We also need cholesterol to help us get enough vitamin D. Most people who have #Lupus are aware that there is a big connection between Lupus and Vitamin D deficiency! LDL (the so called BAD cholesterol) gets converted into Vitamin D. It's a tricky situation because if you have Lupus, you need to avoid sun exposure but you also need vitamin D to help promote a healthy immune system. Supplementing with Vitamin D is often the best solution. Want to learn more about the best supplements for lupus? I am holding another webinar on Sunday 23rd April (US time) you can register here https://codykennedyhealth.lpages.co/bln-webinar-april-24-2017/
