This coming Monday 5th Dec is International Volunteer Day. We wanted to take the opportunity this week to help raise awareness around this important day in the world calendar and also to highlight some of the volunteer work team members from Brighton Plastic Surgery undertake in conjunction with Interplast. Simone is one of our Practice Nurses and she was fortunate to get the opportunity to volunteer as part of an Interplast program to Samoa in 2012 and 2013. Her role was to see patients on clinic day – helping to assess patients appropriate for operations such as children with cleft lip and palates. Simone also assisted in theatre, changed dressings post op and helped to teach local nursing staff. An experience she describes as wonderful.
