When Marilyn Budzynski opened her dance studio 40 years ago, she wanted to not only teach dance but to inspire a passion for dance. She created her non-proft dance company, Budzynski Ballet Theater to offer her students a chance to perform on stage with incredible talent from PA Ballet, Boston Ballet, Ballet X and Pittsburgh Ballet just to name a few. As we prepare for our incredible production of Coppelia next weekend, we seek to inspire not only our own students but the many children studying dance here in Bucks County. Our spring show us filled with hard working students and principle dancers from Pittsburgh Ballet as well as corps dancers and soloists from PA Ballet. This show is not to be missed! In the spirit of INSPIRATION, we would like to invite any dance student under 18 to come see our show free of charge! Ballet students, lyrical, hip hop, any kind of dance study....Yes, FREE. Please message us for details about this amazing offer and don't forget, Coppelia is next Saturday, May 21st at 3 & 7 PM! www.budzynskiballet.org

It’s Saturday at Budzynski Ballet Studios and the room is full of students warming up and preparing for a typical long day of rehearsals but on this day the room is buzzing with anticipation and extra energy. The students seem both a little nervous and also more giggly than usual….. “Isn’t it exciting?” Artistic Director Marilyn Budzynski asks Company Manager Stacey Crescitelli. No doubt it is the strangers in the room generating all of this emotion. Six incredible artists from PA Ballet are here to dance on one local stage to perform Coppelia on May 21st with the talented young dancers from Budzynski Ballet Theater. While it has been a long held tradition for Marilyn Budzynski’s students to get to share the stage with outstanding professional dancers, this year’s production is simply jam packed with guest artists that you rarely get to see perform locally. Alexandra Kochis and Christopher Budzynski will dance the lead roles in the production. Both are former dancers with Boston Ballet and have performed as principle dancers with Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre for the past 11 years. They will perform the endearing lead roles of Swanhilda and Franz in this classic and time honored comedy of mistaken identity and love. The role of Dr. Coppelius, the zany toymaker of the village will be danced by Joseph Parr, also of Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre. Rounding out the cast will be six guest dancers from PA Ballet: Marjorie Feiring, Aaron Anker, Michael Holden, Edward Barnes, John Sprance and Evelyn Kocak. “Setting Coppelia for the sixth time, says Marilyn Budzynski, is like greeting an old friend. By now, the choreography is completely imbedded in my mind. “Coppelia” is truly one of my favorite ballets with a laugh a minute for young and old alike. Audiences are enthralled by this ballet so rich in story line and humor. The story swirls around the jealousy of a young girl, Swanhilda when she accidentally witnesses her sweetheart Franz flirting with a new girl in the village only to find out later that this “new girl” is actually a doll. This ballet is performed all over the world and is over 100 years old having earned its place alongside true classics of ballet such as “Sleeping Beauty”, “Swan Lake” and the “Nutcracker”. And what about those nervous and giggly students who were maybe a little nervous to meet their new cast members? BBT Senior company member Sophia Crescitelli had this to say, “Having professionals in the studio has always been an exciting experience for us and gives us the extra push we need to make everything look perfect.” And from Senior company member Victoria Yuzwiak, “It’s always an amazing time once the professionals come in. It puts a whole new image of how the choreography is supposed to look into our minds. They help us not only in our dances with them, but they also give us tips for other dances which is truly amazing!” For tickets and information visit www.budzynskiballet.org or call 215-345-0926. Coppelia will be performed at CB South High School on Saturday, May 21st at 3 & 7 PM will tickets starting at 15.00. Group rates available.
