'Going on a diet' ARGHHHH After the Christmas period there's a lot of talk of 'going on a diet' a term that I hate with a passion. If you want to be successful you can change your diet, adjust your diet etc but 'going on a diet' is simply not going to work. 'Going on a diet' suggests a short term change that is most likely going to revert to how you were before. Changing your diet or adjusting your diet suggests permanency and that will help achieve results. So please take the new year opportunity to assess your diet, adjust your diet but please don't 'go on a diet', make it a permanent change, it's the only way you'll get results! 🍇🍈🍉🍊🍋🍌🍍🍎🍏🍐🍑🍒🍓🍅🍆🌽🌶🍄🌰

The learning journey has continued this week as I am doing the Level 3 Award in Nutrition for Physical Activity. It has provided some really interesting and useful information (as well as some interesting but not so useful). The balance of diet can be very confusing for people and really difficult to achieve. I am able to come up with strategies and methods that will help you achieve your nutritional goals, whether that is weight gain, weight loss or just trying to eat a little more healthily. Get in touch if you have any questions regarding diet and eating habits, I'll be more than happy to help!! 🍌🍎🍑🌽🌶🍞🧀🍰🍫🍻🍳

The 12 days of fitness. Give this challenge a go in the run up to Christmas, it will help keep you active and potentially reduce the impact of the possible indulgence over the Christmas period. The most it's going to take is active couple of minutes! Santa hats are optional but encouraged for those extra festive gains! 💪🎅💪🎅💪🎅

Standard Wednesday circuits post! The guys absolutely killed it today. Each month brings a new style of circuit to the class, this month in the build up to Christmas it's a strength endurance circuit. The guys do a 100 rep pyramid for each exercise (lower body, upper body and core) with three rounds of different exercises. They can do the 100 as fast or as slow as they like, but must get all hundred done. They determine their rest. There's was a lot of grimaces and grunts but it gave them.a chance to work in new ways and test some new muscle groups. Hopefully they take the great work rate right up until Christmas!! 💪💪💪

Today I have passed my qualification for Adapting Exercise for Ante and Post natal women, meaning I can now train and advise pregnant women on their physical activity. So why should pregnant women train? Pregnancy puts a MASSIVE strain on the body as does the process of giving birth. Strengthening in the right areas such as: hamstrings, lower back, upper back and pelvic floor will prepare the body for the stresses and strains placed on the body throughout pregnancy by the changes in weight and centre of gravity. Also giving birth is one of the single most traumatic experiences the body can go through. By having the body in the best possible condition before labour it is possible to get through labour better and will give you a great starting position to get back to fitness after giving birth! So, if you're expecting let me know, if you have friends who are expecting then let them know I can help them to make their pregnancy as easy as possible and prepare them for the greatest experience they will have.

Always trying to be the best I can! Yesterday I was on a TRX course at Chelsea Health Club (inside Stamford bridge). It made me aware of how getting movement right and the body in balance is important before any other forms of resistance training. TRX (total resistance (e)xcercise) is exactly what it says, a workout for the entire body and is a fantastic form of core and functional training. It is also fantastically portable. Being qualified in instructing TRX has given me a number of ideas and has enabled me to identify and work on my weaknesses. Let me help you to work on yours too!! 💪💪💪

A lot of questions seem to come up about diet. It's an issue which a lot of people find complicated and confusing. And it certainly can be. Here's a little image to show how meal distribution should go for those looking to strip fat and get lean. Breakfast: the biggest and most important meal of the day. Going to fuel you fr the whole day. Lunch: used to top the body up with energy, with a good fill at breakfast less is required at lunch Dinner: used to top up again what's been used throughout the day. A chance to refuel, but chances are the thing you'll be doing most after dinner is sleeping. If you think about it it seems logical right?!?! The circuits circus was back in town today, on a Friday as well this week. Getting great feedback from lunch time circuits lots of smiling sweaty people leaving to freshen up before heading back to work. I'm looking to set up another circuits class soon somewhere around Swindon and potentially looking for an outdoor space/ hall for the new year. Watch this space for more info and to book your place!! 💪💪💪
