We still have some people's belongings they lost down the rabbit hole, in our lost property. Please send us a message if you lost something over the weekend, hopefully we can help.
Many thanks to everybody who came and made Doune the Rabbit Hole such enormous fun this year. The atmosphere depends on the enthusiastic participation of the public, and the challenging weather just seemed to lead people to join in more. The beauty of the sweeping Stirlingshire landscape was enhanced as swathes of rain wafted across it. The art installations were as always both striking and intriguing. The children’s area was a hive of fun, the workshops were compelling, the food was excellent and diverse, the bar was magnificent and the range of music was unequalled. There is a West End hit this year called “The Play that Goes Wrong”, and at times we felt that we had to overcome almost every adversity a festival could face. We cannot express enough our admiration and gratitude for the titanic efforts of crew for keeping everything on the road. The Songhoy Blues got stranded at Casablanca airport by travel issues and we only received news of their cancellation during the festival itself. Similarly The Liars were unable to perform due to issues with their own equipment and/or crew which were not in any way caused by DTRH. But the major problem was the weather. It rained solidly on site for a week, often torrentially. This required us to divert a very large portion of our manpower resources to ensuring public safety, constantly lifting and putting down mats and straw and rebuilding internal roads four times. We had permanent crews towing vehicles out of mud. There were many knock on ramifications - for example the vehicle could not get round regularly to service the toilets. Box office became backlogged by the difficulties in getting vehicles safely in and out of their pitches. Everybody working on the festival became muddy and physically exhausted. Inevitably the need to chop and change plans at the last minute and under pressure led to occasional muddles. It is no secret that it has been a challenging year for small Scottish festivals, with a number being cancelled. The weather conditions all summer have contributed to this, and depressed our sales substantially. This year’s Scotsman review of Doune the Rabbit Hole sums it up perfectly that “It was a great day out. A success despite the glitches, not a failure because of them.” Despite all the problems we faced, we have received hatfuls of compliments on a wonderful show. And for that we are grateful to so many people.

Both Songhoy Blues and Doune the Rabbit Hole have done everything humanly possible to make this show happen but our best efforts have been thwarted. This is not a weather or production related cancellation. We aren't at liberty to go into further details about it at this stage. The exceptional Francois and the Atlas Mountains will now step into their role as headliners and Holy FCK will move onto main stage.
