Every week, Corps Fitness will be sharing the journey of some of it's members. They are sharing their story to encourage others to realise their own potential. So please join us in applauding their bravery, commitment and success. They are our Champions of Achievement! Champions of Achievement “Natalie’s Story” Over the last 3 years I have been working on completely changing myself both physically and mentally, after lots of personal events made me re-evaluated myself. I started losing weight by eating healthy and changing the way I thought about food. I then decided to try and find some exercise I enjoyed, but I struggled at first with finding the time and commitment being a single mum. I realised it's so important to make time and put yourself first. In July 2017 I started boot camp and at first, I was so scared as hadn't exercised in years, but everyone was really welcoming. Since then it’s given me drive, determination and improved my fitness to another level. My friends and family were so shocked at the change in me and my attitude towards exercising. I was like a new person and I now feel the best I have in over 10 years. I became addicted to boot camp and the feeling it gives you, pushing through barriers and constantly improving. I went from being able to only do 1 full sit up, to doing 30 in a set. I have overall lost 3st 8lbs and dropped two dress sizes. I'm not stopping there though, my goal is to keep pushing myself further and take on new challenges to improve my fitness levels including my first ever obstacle race in March this year.

So please join us in applauding their bravery, commitment and success. They are our Champions of Achievement! “Michelle’s Story” Now, most of us know of a person who has transformed their lives, or at least a friend of a friend who has. I have to say, I never thought that it would be my story one day. Several years ago, I was diagnosed with PCOS (Poly Cystic Ovarian Syndrome). For those who do not know, this disorder has some pretty nasty symptoms. These range from hair loss, decreased metabolic rate, hormone imbalance, heart disease and depression. I reached a point where I needed to refocus and move my life into a positive place. I decided to do a charity walk up Snowden and I needed to get fit enough to make it. I love being outdoors and after a few weeks of plucking up the courage to attend my first boot camp with Sam, I have not looked back. Not only did I get fit enough to make it up Snowden, I also started to notice other changes. Over the time I have been training I have lost 22kgs in weight and transformed my body from a size 18 to a size 12. My ‘nasty symptoms’ have now been replaced with increased strength, a higher bone density and my cardio health that has improved significantly. I no longer need to take; metformin (pre diabetic meds), naproxen (joint pain) and omeprazole (for gastritis). For me this didn’t happen overnight. It has taken time, effort and the occasional swear word! Of course, at boot camp we are not on our own, the support I have had from the other members has been amazing. I am now more confident of being me. I now enjoy being fit and can’t wait to set myself new challenges.
