How quickly can you get from Inverness Airport to the Castle Stuart golf course? More flights to Inverness Airport mean a massive increase in business at Castle Stuart... Ahead of Scottish Golf Tourism Week, which starts on Monday, it has been revealed that since last year visitor numbers to Castle Stuart from Canada have risen by 79%, from Benelux by 60% and South Africa by 47%, while Scandinavian visitors have increased by 45%, US by 17% and Germany, Switzerland, Austria and Lichtenstein all by 14%. British Airways to expand Inverness Airport to Heathrow Airport service British Airways is to increase the service from seven to ten flights a week from March 2018. The new schedule, which will see a 30% increase in capacity on the route, is the second major boost to the Highlands and Islands economy to be generated by BA, following the airline's announcement of an extended codeshare agreement with Loganair, which came into effect at the beginning of September. Phyllis Stuart, British Airways’ manager at Inverness said, "We’re delighted to be able to offer our customers more flights from the highland capital, offering more seats on the route after a successful start to the route." Inglis Lyon, MD of Highlands and Islands Airports Limited (HIAL) said: "This announcement is excellent news for the highland community and Inverness Airport. "We have worked closely with British Airways to further improve connectivity and the new schedule provides additional two-way connectivity with destinations such as Atlanta, San Diego, Phoenix, Berlin and Mexico City. "We can also anticipate more than ten per cent additional inbound passengers to the highlands and islands to experience all the north of Scotland has to offer."
