Welcome to the Official Facebook Page of Culloden Battlefield & Visitor Centre. The Site is owned by the National Trust for Scotland, Charity Number SC 007410. On the 16th April 1746, the last battle fought on mainland British soil took place between the Jacobite Army of Prince Charles Edward Stuart and the Hanoverian Government Army of Prince William Augustus on Culloden Moor.

ONLY ONE MORE WEEK **Call for Papers** In the Shadow of the Princes This panel discussion will be considering histories surrounding the battle of Culloden and the wider ’45 conflict. Through four 20-minute papers, we will look at some of the exciting and engaging work surrounding the conflict and its consequences. Applications are welcome from Postgraduate Research Students, Early Career Researchers and people in early stages of a career public history and heritage sector. The aim of this session is to provide early career a platform to discuss research in a unique cultural setting. We welcome presentations that look at traditional and non-traditional interpretations of the Jacobite Rising. Themes • Remembering the Princes • Material culture of the ’45 • Global consequences of Culloden • Memory and memorialisation’s of Culloden and the Jacobites • Tourism or the dark tourism of Culloden • The role of women, young people and children in the conflict. Application details Please complete the form https://www.surveymonkey.co.uk/r/6XM6FVZ by 31 January 2017. Abstracts should be 200 words long with a title and include a 100 biography. About the session The session will form part of the 272nd anniversary commemorations of the Battle of Culloden and the celebration of 10 years of the visitor centre. The session will be held at the visitor centre on the outskirts of inverness on the 14 April 2018 at 13.30-15.30. The session will format will be four 20 minute papers and a 20-minute Q&A with the audience.
