We are looking for an all-round I.T. engineer for a part-time position in our busy Falmouth repair shop. The potential employee must be able to do the following: • Computer/Laptop Repairs: You will be required to know how to troubleshoot and diagnose faults, reinstall an operating system, find and install hardware drivers, test and if necessary fit hard drives, and perform other basic hardware upgrades. • iMac and MacBook Repairs: This again involves hardware and software diagnostic and repair. • Phone and Tablet Repairs: This involves the repair of various software issues and screen repairs, you must be proficient with the Apples iPhone range. The position also requires dealing with customers, so the applicant must be confident and of smart appearance. We also sell new and refurbished computers so some sales experience would be preferred. Read, share be aware. Her Majesty’s Revenue and Customs (HMRC) tax rebate scams Victims have received phishing emails/texts purporting to be from HMRC about tax rebates. After either downloading a file attached to the emails or clicking on a link, devices have been infected with Dridex (a type of banking malware) or Locky ransomware (which locks devices and demands a ransom) from a hacked website. When victims click on the link in the HMRC spoofed texts they are redirected to a registration page requesting personal details. The emails and texts appear genuine and the victims who have provided their personal details have consequently had direct debits, mobile phone contracts and new bank accounts set up using their personal information. HMRC would never contact people using these methods.
