Shiresmill Therapy Riding Centre
Description
http://www.Shiresmill.org Shiresmill Therapy Riding Centre is based at Shiresmill, by Blairhall, approximately 8 miles from Dunfermline.
The custom–built centre, which was opened by HRH The Princess Royal on 4 September, 1996, consists of a cabin (used by our riders and helpers), an indoor arena, an outdoor arena and recently a brand new warm room! There are paddocks and grazing fields for the 7 ponies owned by the Group.
The Group is run entirely by volunteers who give a great deal of their time to help our riders and take care of our ponies. Each riding session needs several volunteers to assist the riders – and the more helpers we have, the more riders we can cater for!
Our volunteers also give their time to do maintenance work at the Centre, in addition to the many and varied fundraising activities undertaken throughout the year such as Christmas with the Ponies and Fundays!
Our aim, in simple terms, is to provide the opportunity of riding to people with a range of physical and learning disabilities, who might benefit in their general health and wellbeing.

A date for your diary. Come along and join in the fun.
On Saturday, we received a visit from two lovely ladies from Age Concern Inverkeithing. They had come along to present us with a donation. We were totally overwhelmed and stunned to receive a cheque for £10,000 ! All our volunteers would like to say a huge thank you to Age Concern Inverkeithing for their kind and very generous donation.😀 They also brought along a large gazebo which they've gifted to us. This will be put to good use at our Fun Day on 1st September.

On Friday, two of our volunteers, Eleanor Knight and Lynda Milne, went along to ASDA St Leonard to be presented with a cheque for £240 by Julie McKell, ASDA Community Colleague. Many thanks to Julie and ASDA for this support. The money will go towards our Fun Day which is being held on Sunday 1 September.
Last Thursday we had visit from Brian Steer who is a member of Rotary Club of Dunfermline. Brian had nominated us to receive a donation from the club and his nomination was successful. In this photo, Brian is presenting our Chair, Alison McKilligan, with a cheque for £500. We'd like to say a huge thank you to Brian and Rotary Club Dunfermline for their kind and generous donation.

We had a beautiful day on Sunday 13 May when we held our annual Pony Sponsorship Day. Many thanks to all our volunteers who donated to the tombola and the home baking, not to mention those who gave up their Sunday to help. We didn't have as many visitors as last year but it was great to see everyone happy to sit in the sun enjoying the weather. A special mention for Gillian Rafferty who baked an amazing sponge cake for people to have with their teas and coffees. They all raved about it. A very successful day, the pony sponsorships, tombola and home baking raised £869. 😃

****.UPDATE ON MR TED. HIS OWNER HAS BEEN FOUND****😃👍 This little chap was found last week close to our centre. He’s been sitting on our fence hoping his owner will find him. If you recognise Mr Ted, or know someone who has lost their little bear, pass this on. Unfortunately he’s not chipped. 😀
