Movies at the Hall - Lion

Movies @ the Hall are delighted to be screening LION on Friday 26th May at 7.30pm. All tickets £5.00. Five year old Saroo gets lost on a train which takes him thousands of miles across India, away from home and family. Saroo must learn to survive alone in Kolkata, before ultimately being adopted by an Australian couple. Twenty five years later, armed with only a handful of memories, his unwavering determination, and a revolutionary technology known as Google Earth, he sets out to find his lost family and finally return to his first home. Heavily praised at the Oscars, Golden Globes and BAFTAS, Lion stars Dev Patel and Nicole Kidman "Lion is an astounding, all-emcompassing story of hope, determination and dumb luck that will leave you both crying like a baby and clapping like a seal once the credits roll." NTLive - Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?

Thornden Hall are delighted to be screening from National Theatre Live - Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf? Sonia Friedman Productions present Imelda Staunton (Gypsy, Vera Drake, the Harry Potter films), Conleth Hill (Game Of Thrones, The Producers), Luke Treadaway (A Street Cat Named Bob, The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time, The Hollow Crown) and Imogen Poots (A Long Way Down, Jane Eyre) in James Macdonald’s critically acclaimed, 5 star production of Edward Albee’s landmark play, broadcast live to cinemas from the Harold Pinter Theatre, London. In the early hours of the morning on the campus of an American college, Martha, much to her husband George’s displeasure, has invited the new professor and his wife to their home for some after-party drinks. As the alcohol flows and dawn approaches, the young couple are drawn into George and Martha’s toxic games until the evening reaches its climax in a moment of devastating truth-telling. ***** ‘Imelda Staunton is at her magnificent best. A first-rate revival of an astonishing play.’ The Guardian ***** ‘Conleth Hill is superb. Exquisite.’ Evening Standard ***** ‘Luke Treadaway and Imogen Poots are terrific.’ Metro ***** ‘James Macdonald’s blistering production. Intoxicatingly good.’ Financial Times Tickets £15/£13 Thornden Hall is part of Thornden school and is a non-profitmaking organisation, hosting and producing events, for the local community, as part of their fundraising activities.
