JB Vallely "The Reel Players" 40" x 50" Oil on Canvas Inspired by a famous chess game played by the "Sons of Usna" in Irish Mythology, this painting was created in the 1980's by J.B.Vallely. He call it "The Reel Players". It was illustrated on the cover of Vallely's mid-term retrospective catalogue exhibition in Belfast Castle in the 1990's.

This triptych by Robert Ballagh depicts, in its centre panel, Francis Ledwidge, poet and solider of Co. Meath. To the left is a brightly lit image of Slane, birthplace of the poet. On the right the pandemonium of the western front.
