Back in 2002, we were still thriving - Where is the willingness from #KerryCountyCouncil, to reopen it ? It’s shocking that various other #Projects locally, get priority, while a huge potential #Tourism draw in the region, is ignored ! 🚂#ReopenTraleeandDingleRailway🚃🚋

This is what can be achieved if you set your mind to it. The Lynton & Barnstaple narrow gauge railway closed in 1935. Volunteers have re-created a 1.5 mile section of it on the former track bed almost from scratch. The old station building at Woody Bay was the only remaining intact piece of infrastructure. In spite of being in the middle of open country, the railway is very successful and is attracting tourists from far and wide. The County Council recognise the value of the railway to tourism and support the Preservation Society's work, which includes protecting the still un-opened sections of line for possible future expansion.
