We had the most delightful afternoon with Breda O'Mahony, the 2017 Kerry Rose. The team are very excited about the upcoming celebrations for the Rose of Tralee International Festival.
Ballydoyle Racing Stables, run by Aidan O'Brien, is at the Labour Court to challenge a finding of employment law breaches by the Workplace Relations Commission. The WRC said inspectors discovered that several employees at the stables [exercise riders and grooms] had worked 19 hours during a 24-hour period and had not been afforded the stipulated compensatory rest periods. It was alleged some employees had worked 28 consecutive days without a day off. it was Ballydoyle's case that the workers in question were wholly or mainly engaged in agricultural activities in an agricultural enterprise, and could thus avail of the exemption, which meant there would be no breach.
