Snow day reading😊 I am trained as a Circle of Security or COS-P facilitator and love this approach. It’s all about building secure attachment and creating the trust, safety and security that’s needed for children to explore their world and thus build their resilience by also helping children to accept, manage and integrate their emotions. BUT my favorite part of this approach is about befriending our imperfections as parents and humans, and that learning to be flexible, responsive and available is what’s needed for all relationships. It talks about how the one big mistake that most well- meaning parents can and do make is trying to be perfect! We already have what we need to be good enough parents- this approach helps parents to re-connect with or find their way back to that. I’ll be adding this one to my collection in the waiting room when I’m finished!
My newsfeed today has been so joyously flooded with wonderful scenes of children and their families playing together in the snow. It’s heartwarming to see the fun, magic, creativity and true connection that comes through PLAY so much in action today! I’ve seen snow creatures of all sorts coming to life, parents and children working and playing together, snow angels’ wings and some very feisty snowball fights happening!!! 😂 I’ve looked fondly at scenes from my own home place that have brought back lots of good memories of my adventures of tearing down big hills (which of course felt like massive mountains to me as a child) and of all the fun that came with it!!! Today can be a gift to us all to remind us to stop and slow down and just be in the moment with ourselves and our children. Because that’s where magical moments and memories are made. Hope you all have a lovely day, and remember to keep finding and making time to PLAY!! 😊
