Muse Productions
Description
About Muse Productions Muse Productions was founded in April 2011 by Ted Germaine, Anne Germaine, Martin McNelis and Clare McNelis.
We aim to provide a platform for all types of theatre to be performed in Shannon, with an emphasis on utilising local talent and providing entertainment first and foremost to the people of Shannon. The Oakwood Arms is intended to be the focus for these productions, creating a new venue that has been sadly lacking in recent years.
Ted has been involved with Drama in Shannon from the very beginning, and was instrumental, along with Clare and Martin, in reviving theatre in Shannon previously with another Shakespeare play, “A Midsummer Night’s Dream”, with Icarus Players. They followed this production with 5 more years of theatre, including one act plays and full three act plays. Martin directed the production of “One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest” and a one act play “Roman Fever”, Clare directed “The Importance of Being Earnest”, and Ted returned to Directorial duties for “Abelard and Heloise”.
Unfortunately, with the GAA no longer viable as a venue, it became impossible to continue. With the support of the Oakwood Arms, and some creative direction, we hope to put theatre back on the map in Shannon once again!

We are delighted to announce that Muse Productions have received three nominations from AIMS for our recent production of “In the Heights”. First up was our Front of House team led by Anne Barnes who have been nominated for Best House Management. Anne has also been nominated with our friends in Shannon Musical Society for the same award in the Gilbert Category, so here’s to the double! Anne was supported by a great team, notably her daughter Alice and Eoin Sheedy, but there were many more on the team who all deserve the recognition. Next was Ted Germaine who was nominated for Best Stage Management. If ever there was a labour of love, this was it. In as much as its possible for one man to build an entire set, Ted did it. Thats not to take from all the people who helped out, particularly Francis Maloney who saved our bacon with the roller door, but nobody would object to singling Ted out for his single-mindedness and dedication. Finally, Edel McFadden was nominated in the category of Best Supporting Actress for her touching portrayal of Abuela Claudia. Edel is no stranger to AIMS having won Best Overall Performer for SMS in the role of Irene Molloy in Hello Dolly in 1989, so this will be her 30th anniversary. Lets hope that’s a good omen! We would like to thank the entire cast and crew for their dedication and good humour for what was a really special piece of theatre. The Nominations are a lovely cherry on top, but the reaction of our audiences is all the accolades we need. We’d also like to thank our friends and sponsors in The Shannon Springs for their constant support, without which none of this would be possible. Finally we would like to congratulate our friends in neighbouring societies on their nominations also, particularly Shannon, Ennis, Limerick MS, Cecilians MS, Galway MS, Thurles, Bravo, Carrick and Tralee. Roll on the Awards weekend in Killarney!

We're looking at producing Arthur Millers classic play "The Crucible" this coming October/November and would like a reading to determine if we have the cast required. All ages are welcome with parts as young as 14/15 right up to Elderly. Roughly a 50/50 split Male/Female with about 10 male and 10 female roles. The Crucible is ostensibly about the Salem Witch Trials in Salem Massachusetts in the late 1600's, but it was written as an allegory during the McCarthy Communist hunt in 50's America and the universal themes are still true now, with people willing to destroy a name or reputation based on paranoia and fear, and even to take lives based on lies and propaganda. Its an incredibly powerful piece requiring strong dramatic acting in the main roles but there is room for all levels of ability. The reading is in Hope Cafe at 8pm tonight, opposite Shea Leaz Hope to see you all there! Martin
