Offaly The Mannion family are milking 200 Holstein Friesian cows outside Birr in Co. Offaly. The system is very unique in that cows are housed almost all year round, zero grazed grass is fed in conjunction with TMR and there are only 26 grazing acres available around the yard. Cows are consuming 1,110 kg of concentrate and approx. 1.2 million litres of milk were sold out of the yard in 2017. Average protein is 3.35% and 3.85% butterfat. TBC’s are 5,000 and SCC’s are running at 130,000 cells per ml. Visit the Mannion's farm on 4th April to find out more about their investment in robotic milking and the results that they're seeing. This farm is currently milking 148 cows on 2 Lely Astronaut A4’s. Particularly interesting as only 26 acres around the yard. Special thanks to our host Tim.
