Tonight saw the unit attend a Mayoral Reception hosted by the Mayor of Limerick City & County Council Mr Stephen Keary and Councillors at City Hall in Limerick. We were delighted to be joined by past and current members, the Unit Management Team, Regional Director Comdt. Tony O' Mara, Deputy National Director Comdr. David Birchall KM, Hospitaller of the Irish Association Mr Brendan Lawlor KM, The Mayor & Councillors. Mr Stephen Keary Mayor gave a speech and thanked the unit and its members for their work in Limerick over the last 70 years and wished them all well for the future. Comdt. Tony O' Mara spoke on the units achievements over the last 70 years attending many civic and cultural events, the various locations we were based in and trained from, past members contributions and the current units activities. The Mayor then presented Adjt Bryan Crosby Officer in Charge with a scroll to commemorate the 70 years and as a Thank You on behalf of the people of Limerick. Bryan presented the Mayor with our 70th commemorative coin as a Thank You to the Mayor and Councillors for hosting tonight's event and for their continued support over the last 70 years and well into the future. Today saw us continue our 70th celebrations where we held our Building Naming Ceremony and Members 70th Presentation. The event commenced with a welcome from our Officer in Charge Adjt Bryan Crosby. All present then gathered outside where our building was blessed by Dom Henry O Shea Acting Chief Chaplin Irish Association SMOM. Our long-standing member, dear friend and former Mayor of Limerick Mr John Quinn unveiled the plaque to our building formally naming it St John's House. Following the unveiling we assembled back in the FitzGerald Room where Mr Desmond Carroll KM Chancellor Irish Association SMOM spoke on the units contribution over the past 70 years and congratulated the unit members on their proud achievements. The Officer in Charge and Deputy Officer in Charge then presented all members both currently and of the past with the unique 70th year commemorative coin which was designed by unit member Adjt David Mullane . A fitting presentation to all members for their time, dedication and commitment. A great day was had by all and we look forward to continue celebrating this special year for us here in Limerick. #savinglives #touchinglives #changinglives

On behalf of the Officers and members of the Limerick Unit we wish you and yours a Happy and Prosperous New Year! 2017 was indeed a busy year for us. From carrying out First Aid & Ambulance Cover at many local & national events, to continuing the work we do with our young members - the cadets, to carrying out Community care activities. None of this would have been possible without our dedicated members who gave of their time to so many activities. 2018 sees us celebrate 70th years of service to the Limerick community. There are many events planned to mark this special occasion and a calender will issue in the new year. Our crews have been very busy over the Christmas period covering the 4 day racing festival at Limerick Racecourse. Today is the final day of racing and our crews are looking forward to getting home and warming up by the fire. Thanks to all who have given up their time to cover this annual event.

Thanks to our unit members who along with other units in the South West Region for their very generous donation to The Order of Malta Knight Run, helping those less fortunate especially at this time of year. While these items (food, personal items, clothing for the elements)were brought to Dublin there has also been a donation to the Simon Community for their work in the greater Munster area. Pictured below are the goods being dropped off at our National HQ by units members Nora and Con. Nora organised the collection of goods on behalf of us all in time for Christmas.
