The QUALITY of the food you eat, is a big factor in the quality of your energy output-(1000 calories in Mc Donald's versus 1000 calories of homemade steak, potatoes and veg-2-4 hours later which would serve you better in the gym??) The QUANTITY of food you eat will also be a factor. If you are substantially under eating what your body requires, you will likely find yourself tired and sluggish. Considering a large amount of women aren't eating ENOUGH good quality food, I think this is a big problem. And here comes the pregnancy part.... I can't help wondering if- In the third trimester, a woman is advised to eat roughly 400-450 EXTRA calories per day. That is, extra on top of maintenance calories-for me maintenance is generally around 2200 so now in the third trimester I should be aiming for 2600.. If you eat good quality food, it's very possible that eating that many calories will be difficult. It is for that reason, I suspect the third trimester is why women find themselves so tired and lacking energy. Granted you are carrying extra weight which will naturally tire u anyway but I can't help wondering if it's the lack of good QUALITY food at the right AMOUNT that makes it that bit tougher. If a pregnant woman, of my body weight, consistently ate 2600 calories each day of the third trimester, would she be as tired??? Curious to hear your thoughts...

4 weeks vs 27 weeks-Third trimester starts today 🎉 Probably the quickest 6 ish months of my life.. Cannot believe we are going to have a beautiful newborn baby to join us in such a short time. Super proud of my two big babies who haven't once asked "how long left" yet check in with bump daily, rubbing and singing and genuinely interested in all that is going on. Countdown is officially on 😬 #27weeks

Today I witnessed a perfectly healthy woman, perhaps mid 30's, total stranger to me, sitting outside in the sun. I was gobsmacked. I took it upon myself to go over and tell her that she should be up and exercising!!! Last week I had a similar experience. A total stranger, minding his own business, walking down the road. I promptly told him he should be running that it was outrageous for him to JUST walk. I mean, Iv every right to comment where I see fit, don't I. I have the best intentions- if i don't say it then who will. It's not like they were fully grown adults who could make their own decisions, they needed me, a stranger to give it to them between the eyes!!! Needless to say, the above never happened. At least not as Iv written it. But time and time again Iv had numerous comments about me exercising while pregnant. "You should be resting" was the latest this morning from a complete stranger, while I was taking part in an outdoor gym class. Thankfully Iv grown a thick skin and manage to contain the reply I would LIKE to give but it makes me sad. It makes me sad because there are quite probably many other pregnant women who would stop exercising upon hearing these comments. It makes me sad because I know deep down that I'm doing good for my body-the polar opposite to how lazy and unhealthy I was in my previous pregnancies. Maybe I should go back to eating 7 take aways a week and sitting on my arse!!! To think of 20-30 years ago where women openly smoked and drank during pregnancy, smoked inside maternity hospitals and barely an eye was batted!!! Yet exercise is considered "dangerous" or "unnecessary" or "risky". I'll be the first to admit that every single pregnancy and every single woman is different. I know I'm really lucky to be able to continue training as Iv friends who are suffering with SPD or hyperemis or depression and would only love to be up and about. Iv also had friends who were too nervous to train while pregnant. THAT IS ABSOLUTELY FINE. In the year 2017 we are living in a society of free speech, a democracy and for the most part a pretty decent country whereby women can do what they want. So who the hell are we to comment or interfere or even form an opinion otherwise!!! I'm conscious that this post sounds angry. I'm not at all. But I would personally love to find a way to open people's eyes and show them just how healthy and beneficial and perfectly safe exercise can be. For now, I'm gonna keep doing what I'm doing and who knows, maybe the consensus will shift.
