The Gavin Dance Academy is based in the South Galway area and is dedicated to introducing children to the wonderful skill of Irish Dancing. Classes are held in a fun and friendly environment where children are encouraged to get active and enjoy learning our national skill.
Formerly known as the Marie Gavin School of Irish Dancing, Marie Gavin has been teaching for over 25 years now and has amassed a number of talented dancers throughout her career. In 2014, a veteran Gavin School Dancer Miss April Dooley continued her dancing career and qualified as a T.C.R.G. With April on board the Gavin School became the Gavin Dance Academy (GDA)
GDA has produced many successful dancers through the years and has grown from a once a week class of beginners to a class of Champions at both Connaught and All Ireland & International and World level.
However, GDA is not specifically competition based and dancers are first and foremost told to enjoy the friends they make and the fun they can have in a non- competitive environment, which is completely at parents discretion.
The GDA dancers often participate at local functions such as St. Patricks Day Parade, Family Days and other local festivals and gatherings.

Thanks a mill everyone for making today such a success Our hard working Adjudicators Nessa and Victoria, you were a pleasure to work with. Sinead for your help at the entry table ( you were thrown in there and did a great job , thanks to Kelly and anyone else who stepped in . John Mahon our main man who we rely on for all the hard jobs ( floors , podium , sound etc.) Becky boo for all her work behind the scenes , she does it all really 😂and keeps our tiny tots amused no end . A huge congratulations to all our dancers from the u/4 s up you are all fantastic, you behaved so well all day and did exactly as you were told which led to a fun and rewarding day for us all . Thanks Mums , dads and all the relations who support us all year . The mummy s competition was a high light this afternoon, congrats and well done for getting up. Today showed what Irish Dancing is all about , the smiling faces the fun and the laughter .The photo s show so many reactions. I didn't get much time with my camera but somone did so here are a few more from my phone . Keep up the good work dancers , have a great summer . Don't forget dance camp on the 10 th of July .
