An amazing experience for all concerned. Starting at 4.15am, and crossing the line just as dawn is breaking, the phenomenon that is Darkness Into Light, the annual 5km walk/run, celebrated its ninth year today, and third year in Kinvara.

Little Shop of HORRORS
Proudly presented by Gort Community School, January 2017. Photography by GerRyan.ie. Little Shop of Horrors is a delectable sci-fi horror musical with an electrifying 1960s pop/rock score by Alan Menken and Howard Ashman. Seymour Krelborn is a meek and dejected assistant at a floral shop who happens upon a strange plant, which he affectionately names “Audrey II” after his crush at the shop. Little does he know that this strange and unusual plant will develop a soulful R&B voice, a potty mouth, and an unquenchable thirst for HUMAN BLOOD. As Audrey II grows bigger and meaner, the carnivorous plant promises limitless fame and fortune to Seymour, as long as he continues providing a fresh supply of blood. Just when it’s too late, Seymour discovers Audrey II’s extra-terrestrial origins and his true drive for world-domination.

Cruinniú na mBád 2016
The 38th Cruinniú na mBád, "The Gathering of the Boats" took place in Kinvara on the 19th, 20th, and 21st August. This year saw the Currach racing returning as part of Cruinniú after an absence of 12 years. There were men’s, women’s, and mixed crews involved in the Currach racing held on Saturday. The Festival was officially opened by singer Declan O'Rourke. Cruinniú na mBád and the other Hooker Regattas that take place around Galway Bay each summer are part of our living heritage and are vital for the preservation of the old Turfboats, the Galway Hookers.
