Our Therapeutic framework is specifically that which has its origins in psychoanalytic theory, Psychodynamic psychotherapy, attachment research and models of neuroscience such as interpersonal neurobiology, psychoneuroimmunology and NeuroPsychoanalysis. Membership of the organization is open to those whose personal and professional experience meets with the criteria set out below and whose practice work is in conformity with the code of ethics and practice of the organization.

The Primary Object of the IGPS is to advance Freudian and Kleinian psychoanalysis and psychodynamic psychotherapy to include clinical developments in psychotherapy over the last 5 decades including current new approaches in Psychoanalysis and psychodynamic psychotherapy. In particular in keeping with the classic psychoanalytic thought, this advancement shall remain centered on the popular psychoanalytic theories such as Transference and countertransference central to psychodynamic psychotherapy but including the exploration of such behavioral phenomenon through the lens of the latest research in neuroscience and attachment research. Another goal of IGPS is to Provide advanced therapeutic training, professional accreditation and personal & professional development settings for psychotherapists, psychotherapy students, Tantra therapists, group facilitators, counselors, psychologists, Neuroscientists and other practicing professionals in similar fields working in Ireland.

What is Borderline Personality Disorder and how can I heal this

What is Borderline Personality Disorder and how can I heal this Personality disorder, as a term, may sound negative and judgmental and it is important to have a clear understanding with our patients of the meaning of the term. We explain that there is a group of disorders in the DSM-V, six of them to be specific, that are thought to be long-term and enduring, in contrast to episodic, personality styles that at their core are defined by difficulties in the person’s subjective, internal sense of identity, and chronic difficulties in his or her interpersonal relationships. http://www.lifechangehealthinstitute.ie/borderline-personality-disorder-can-heal/

What is Attachment Theory, what is My Attachment Style and What does it mean in my Relationships ?

Working Through Past Trauma at Trauma Recovery Institute “The greatest damage done by neglect, trauma or emotional loss is not the immediate pain they inflict but the long-term distortions they induce in the way a developing child will continue to interpret the world and her situation in it. All too often these ill-conditioned implicit beliefs become self-fulfilling prophecies in our lives. We create meanings from our unconscious interpretation of early events, and then we forge our present experiences from the meaning we’ve created. Unwittingly, we write the story of our future from narratives based on the past.” ― Gabor Maté http://www.lifechangehealthinstitute.ie/what-is-attachment-theory/ https://vimeo.com/73172036

Trauma, Intimacy and the Poly Vagal Theory

Getting Past Anxiety and Depression Whether you are feeling anxiety depression you can use tools to engage your social nervous system to re-establish higher order nervous system functions. For example, if you are experiencing anxiety you are likely in fight or flight, a key defense reaction of sympathetic nervous system. Sympathetic actions involve mobilization; the need to move your body to release the build of stress cortisols. You can engage your social nervous by rubbing your hands together vigorously and making physical contact to your own face, neck, upper chest, arms, and legs. You can also explore physical movements that feel safe and grounding such as going for a walk or shaking your arms and legs to release stress. When we feel safe we can engage our social nervous system to use the energy of the sympathetic nervous system to dance, play, and laugh. Feeling shut down, collapsed, depressed, or numb is an indication that you are in the defensive reactions of your parasympathetic nervous system which is characterized by immobilization. If you have a history of trauma it is possible that you are perceiving threats in your environment that are not actually occurring in the here and now. This is because a common symptom of PTSD is confusion between the past and the present. In this case, your social nervous system can help you find clues that help you recognize that you are not in imminent danger now which helps you access the positive, relaxing elements of your parasympathetic nervous system of “rest and digest.” When possible, turn towards a loving connection with a friend, caring partner, or a pet. If you are able, make eye contact or call someone you trust and listen to the sound of their voice. You can also visualize a loving animal, friend, or protective ally to restore a felt sense of connection. When we can embrace immobilization with safety we can access the nourishment of the relaxation response. http://www.lifechangehealthinstitute.ie/discovering-importance-poly-vagal-theory/
