Drumhome monastery was founded by Colmcille's monks c. 560 A.D. Adomnan, Colmcille's biographer, attended Drumhome monastery before going to Iona.

The Drumhome (Drom Thuama) Columba monastery was founded c. 560 A.D. by the monks of Colm Cille. Ernan is associated with the founding of the monastery. Adomnan is said to have spent some time in Drumhome as a novice before going to Iona. He became the Abbot of Iona and wrote 'Beatha Cholmcille' - the biography of Columba. In this book he makes reference tio Drumhome. The only visible remains to-day is a wall of a medieval church which stands in the Church of Ireland cemetary.
