For those unable to live on their own, Sonas Nursing Homes provide a home environment with individualised, person-centred care, according to the resident’s needs. We ensure that each nursing home is part of its surrounding community, giving residents the chance to take part in local events.
Nursing home care at Sonas
Sonas Nursing Homes were designed by nurses and purpose built to Sonas’s unique specifications. In addition to on site registered nursing care, residents can avail of a wide range of other services including:
Physiotherapy
Occupational therapy
Chiropody
Reflexology
Aromatherapy
Special dietary needs are catered for and hairdressing is also available.
A GP is on call to each Sonas Nursing Home though residents are welcome to access their own GP, if this is practical.

Sonas Nursing Home Athlone residents and team had such a great day thanks to Medtronics. We were delighted to be chosen as part of Medtronic Athlone "Mission in Motion" project. This was a very kind and generous gesture and everyone had a great time. There was loads of activities from bringing in beautiful potted plants, music, dancing, bingo, beautiful prizes for bingo winners, hand massage, nail care, wash and blow-drys. Thank you Medtronic. 🤩
Recently at Sonas Nursing Home Riverview we had a Vintage Birthday Tea Party for one of our special ladies and our music was by Damian McHale. Damian has been playing at Riverview for quite some time now. Rita has said she is never working the day he comes in so was delighted to finally witness the magic he brings that the residents are always telling her about. Damian makes a point of learning the name of each resident, not only does he perform but he goes around all the residents with the mic getting them to join in singing and he also has the words printed out in large writing for them and to top it all off his sense of humor is fantastic and his happiness is infectious, she cant recommend him highly enough for nursing homes! ❤️🎼🎤❤️
