The concept of the Community is to “live lightly”, making as little disruption to nature and our surroundings as possible. As Community members, we will share resources and emphasize principles of co-operation rather than competition, awareness, respect, sustainability and ecological sensitivity.
The members of Living Light are committed to sustainability within the 'Tri Hita Karana' Balinese philosophy - our relationship to the Environment, our relationship to other Beings, our relationship to Universal Energies.
The Living Light Community is an International ‘neighborhood ‘ of individuals, couples and families, living in charming, ecologically designed and energy efficient homes for a gracious tropical lifestyle. Communal facilities and homes are designed on feng shui principles, with an awareness of usable living space and correct “harmonious placement” of elements.
The combination of private homes and shared communal facilities provides members with all the benefits of comfortable and secure but independent living with the fun and camaraderie of joining in group activities, if desired. The Community plan revolves around sound ecological development principles: 30% buildings in relation to 70% gardens and walkways. The site is built on an orchard, comprised of native cacao, bamboo, palm and durian trees and is preserving farmland (not taking another rice field out of production).
The village of Sayan is considered the premier location in central Bali: the Community is within walking/biking distance to the cultural hub of Ubud. The property is surrounded by hiking paths, through the rice fields and river valleys of the area and is one hour, on a major road, to the airport.
Living Light Bali is a place to join with friends and make new friends; to share information and knowledge and join group activities if desired.
Secure Living: 24hr security and perimeter walls will ensure safety. Communal parking and entrances on the north and south sides of the property will have round the clock surveillance.

Slow Food Bali successfully held this informative workshop at Living Light Bali, last Saturday, 28 January 2017, supported by and organized with Emas Hitam Foundation, Tri Hita Karana Bali and Moksa Restaurant. The workshop was on the nutritional, medicinal, and social value of Moringa oleifera, presented by a diverse team of committed Moringa cultivators and cooks. The participants were welcomed with Moringa green drinks and snacks. The workshop was started by Introduction to Moringa session, followed by sessions on Food as Medicine, All About Moringa, How to plant and propagate moringa and some stories from Moringa farmers in Bali. We also planted moringa seedling at Living Light and look forward to see this amazing tree grows in our garden. After the sessions, we all had Super Power Lunch, with a review of Moringa recipes and sumptuous buffet lunch featuring a variety of Moringa recipes. The participants went home with an array of delicious new recipes, also learnt why and how to plant & propagate Moringa in their own garden.

LOCAVORE POP UP DINNER AT LIVING LIGHT RESIDENTIAL COMMUNITY BR. KUTUH, DESA SAYAN, UBUD, BALI 20th February 2016, The Living Light Community were honored to host LOCAVORE RESTAURANT, a Pop up Dinner at The Dapur, located inside their Residential Community. The LOCAVORE Team of 14+ created an Amazing, Delightful, Tasting Menu of Delicious Ooh! and Aah! dishes, enjoyed by 24 residential and surrounding community members. We were welcomed with unusual and exotic tasting cocktails. These were followed by the 7 course dinner, in which, each dish was a total surprise and a delight to the taste. Thank you, Thank you LOCAVORE, we still have all those delicious tastes resonating. Below is a thank you note from Mary Jane and Mark Edleson, food and culture enthusiasts who have enjoyed their house in Sayan Ubud for more than three decades. Dear Jane and Peter, WOW!! What a wonderful gathering you put together the other night at your beautiful residence! Mark and I had such a good time. The menu was absolutely amazing, and we consumed every creative course with total surprise and delight. We both met several new and really nice friends, and had a superb time at “our side” of the table during dinner. The setting of your restaurant, with just the right lighting, was a magical place to enjoy the splendid Locavore dinner. It was so exciting to see your professional kitchen in the skilled hands of a maestro like Eelke. Every detail worked out so well. Mark and I deeply appreciated the invitation to join you both and your many friends for dinner. We hope you will consider making more events like this. The whole estate is 1.7 hectares and gives a feeling of vastness. It has plenty of space for children to play or simply hang out by the common pool. The Neighborhood The location is within minutes walking distance to world class amenities, yet it’s very secluded. Within 10 minutes walk is the Four Seasons Resort in Ubud. And 10 minutes drive away is the Ubud Town Center. The famous Monkey Forest is nearby, and the scenic route to the Mt Kintamani volcano is an easy 30 minutes by car. Getting Around Local taxi service is easily available and only a phone calls away. A daily-rated car hire with driver is probably the best way to travel around for sightseeing. Other Things to Note The villa has a large teak wood Day Bed with super-size single mattress which can sleep two more adults or children in a group. For families with children, there is a children’s community playground nearby to keep the youngsters engaged. A self-operated launderette is located within the Estate for your convenience.
