Update on ITA: Mandatory implementation of the electronic travel authorization program for visa-exempt foreign nationals It should be noted that from March 15, 2016, until fall 2016, travellers who do not have an eTA can board their flight, as long as they have appropriate travel documents, such as a valid passport. During this period, border services officers can let travellers arriving without an eTA into the country, as long as they are not otherwise inadmissible.

The first 5,000 complete applications received will be placed in the inventory queue. PLEASE, note the UPDATE on the NUMBERS: Canada is committed to reuniting families and the Government of Canada is seeking to increase the intake of parent and grandparent sponsorship applications from 5,000 to 10,000 per year. In light of this commitment, IRCC will retain the first 10,000 complete applications.
