Hindu Samaj of Southern Saskatchewan is a non-profit organization that is responsible of managing the religious needs of Congregation for Hindu Community. The Hindu Samaj of Southern Sask. Inc. was formed on June 15, 1987 and the Hindu Temple was opened to the public on September 13, 1990. As a non-profit religious organization, our objectives are to facilitate a process and means for the community of adults and children by being able to provide a central place for worship; to offer classes in Yoga, observation of rituals and to deepen spiritual practices that are conductive to the growth, harmony and understanding of the great traditions of Hinduism.

Namaskar, The temple will be celebrating Maha Shivratri on Tuesday February 13, 2018. Join us for moments of chanting and worshipping of Lord Shiva as we celebrate the Maha Shivratri festival, also known as the “The Great Night of Lord Shiva.” Shiva is the God of yoga and meditation, the deity of dance, the destroyer and transformer, and one of the Divine beings in the Hindu Trinity. Please find below the tentative program for Maha Shivaratri celebration. First Pooja – 6:30 PM (Tuesday) and followed by Shiva Bhajans Second Pooja – 9:30 PM (Tuesday) Third Pooja – 12:00 Midnight Last Pooja – 4:00 AM (Wednesday) Suggested sponsorship is $51 per family for the poojas - which may be paid by cash or cheque to “Hindu Samaj of Southern Saskatchewan”. To participate in the pooja, please contact the Program coordinators (Jagrudi Trivedi at 639-999-1706 / Geetha Chiluka 306-596-2401) or President Dr. Renatta Varma at 306-450-4441. Although everything needed for the pooja will be provided, devotees may wish to bring some fresh/dry fruits or any fasting related food items. Devotees are kindly requested to bring the Shiv Linga if you have one. Please arrive 15 minutes early for the preparations of the pooja. All are welcome to attend the festival. The last pooja will only take if enough devotees sign up for this part.

Please be informed that as per the article 6.1.4 of the constitution, the President of Hindu Samaj is calling the “Town Hall” meeting on Sunday Feb 4th, 2018 at Hindu Temple (Worship Hall). The meeting shall start at 12:45 PM. We shall introduce the board, share what activities the board would like to do this year etc. As stipulated in the constitution, this meeting will be conducted in a spirit of a dialogue with no resolutions passed.

The prasadam will be served after Arti and the prasadam will be sponsored by the group of Telugu devotees.
