There's a whole lot of cuddling going on tonight at Veterinary Emergency, Urgent Care & Referral Clinic of York Region. The clinic team are crazy about 5 month old Bear. Bear is a Dogue De Bordeaux (remember the breed from the movie "Turner and Hooch" with Tom Hanks?) This beautiful boy can grow to be up to 150 pounds! Bear was brought into the clinic this morning after having an allergic reaction. He was admitted into hospital care after receiving treatment to make him more comfortable. We want to monitor him to ensure he continues to improve from his reaction and his symptoms don't return. We expect him to be discharged tomorrow after getting a night of snuggles.
Diane
Thank you Diane for your kind words. We're so appreciative that you trusted us with Daisy's emergency care.

Jake stopped by for a recheck this weekend after being admitted last week when he had a urinary obstruction that ultimately required surgery. This is a common problem cats experience. Often male cats are predisposed to developing a urinary blockage due to the anatomy of their urinary system. A blocked cat can show symptoms such as: Straining to urinate, but producing no urine Vocalizing or howling Excessive licking of their genital area Blood in urine if urine is produced Depression Lethargy Loss of appetite Vomiting Surgery is not always required for blocked cats, but Jake was not responding to treatement so he did require a Perineal Urethrostomy. If you suspect your cat may have a a urinary obstruction, please contact your veterinarian immediately. If it`s after hours or weekends when your veterinary clinic is closed, we're always open here at Veterinary Emergency, Urgent Care & Referral Clinic of York Region 24/7/365 to see your pet. www.veter.ca 1210 Journey's End Circle, Newmarket (905) 953-5351

It was an interesting day at Veterinary Emergency, Urgent Care & Referral Clinic of York Region when we had 2 emergency cases rush in back to back. Weedle was brought in by his Pokemon Trainer after losing a gym battle and injuring his venomous stinger. Weedle has a conical, two-inch stinger on its head and a barbed one on its tail. Venonat had an eye trauma after being hit by a pokeball. Venonat has highly developed eyes to help it find suitable prey and can shoot powerful beams. RVT Lisa and ACA Farnaz jumped into action to help these two Pokemon with their injuries and they've had a full recovery. Those Pokemon sure are resilient beasties. It was decided both Pokemon would be released together back into the forest, since they're both forest dwellers and became the best of friends today in the clinic. We'll be sure to check up on Weedle and Venonat from time to time to ensure they remain healthy and happy.

Marley and Winnie were two very sick pups from Parvovirus. They were admitted to Veterinary Emergency, Urgent Care & Referral Clinic of York Region and received treatment for 10 days while fighting for their lives. Parvovirus is extremely contagious and can be transmitted to another animal that comes in contact with an infected dog's feces. Highly resistant, the virus can live in the environment for months, and may also survive on inanimate objects such as food bowls, shoes, clothes, toys, carpets and floors. Marley and Winnie are fighters and survived against all odds. They have both been discharged from medical care and are enjoying being happy, recovered puppies with a bright future ahead.
