Congratulations to Sebastien Caron-Roy (BMus ’15; also graduating with a Computer Science degree from the U of L this summer) for being invited to join three Master's degree programs at Toronto, McGill, and Waterloo. He has decided on Waterloo to pursue a fully funded Master's program in Computer Science with a focus on audio signal processing, starting fall 2018. During the last two semesters, Sebastien took "Introduction to Audio Programming," followed by an independent study with Georg Boenn (Music). Well done! #YQL #uleth
Bob Cousins’ (New Media) script “Smuggler’s Blues” is a finalist in the “Fresh Voices Screenplay Competition,” putting it in the top one per cent of scripts submitted. It is one of five finalists in the Action/Adventure category. “Smuggler’s Blues” is also a finalist for the “Spotlight Award for Best Dialogue,” also in the top five scripts out of approximately 3,000 submissions.
Some of our University of Lethbridge Fine Arts students were involved in the planning of this fundraiser! Proceeds from the event will help support programs inside refugee camps that promote girls’ education, including contributing necessary supplies to girls so they may study in their homes. #YQL #uleth http://ow.ly/tEDl30jrbVB
The Department of Music presents its Studio Showcase tomorrow at 12:15 pm in the University Recital Hall! This recital features select senior music students for the final Music at Noon series performance of the spring 2018 semester. Free admission, everyone welcome!
Congratulations to Alex Bohn (BMus ’17) who completed his audio engineering practicum at the Banff Centre for Arts and Creativity, and has been accepted into McGill’s Master of Music in Sound Recording, where he is moving to pursue graduate studies. #YQL #uleth
Everyone is invited to attend the public reading of "Found Objects", the new play by alumnus James Odin Wade, on April 11 at 5 pm in W420. The reading will be done by students from the Drama 3765 (New Play Workshop) course, directed by Professor Gail Hanrahan. The class has been incredibly busy this semester workshopping with the playwright, and Trevor Rueger of Alberta Playwrights' Network. https://bit.ly/2GBtbn8
Congratulations to the Reckless Daughter Creative team: Madeline Taylor-Gregg (Drama ’17), Tristan Levacque (Drama ’15), Kate Pallesen (Drama ’17), Ashley Humphries (Drama ’16), Danielle Martens (Drama ’16), Cassandra Watson (Drama ’16) – for winning Outstanding Production, Original Script, and Best Director with their play, “Yūgen,” which was entered in the ADFA Calgary Region One Act Play Festival in March!
