Feline Reproduction Fun Facts DAY 4: Did you know the gestation period of a female cat is between 57-69 days? The average is 63 days. The average female can produce litter sizes anywhere from 3-6 kittens (give or take). From our facts from the previous 3 days, this means that during the breeding season one female can potentially give birth to up to 3 litters. If you do the math this could be anywhere from 9-18 kittens per female!!! 😲 This is an x-ray of one of our moms due to give birth any day now. How many kittens do you think she is having?

Here are the signs to watch for: -Vocalizing -Strong desire to leave the house/yard -Restless and pacing - Excessive affection (rubbing face and head against owner or inanimate objects) -Atypical aggression -Posturing -Increased urination

Feline Reproduction Fun Fact DAY 2: Did you know that because cats are induced ovulators they can be nursing a litter of kittens and become pregnant AGAIN! 😲 During the spring and summer months a cat will keep cycling until she is bred, making cats proficient at reproducing. This is why it is extremely important to spay your female cat before sexual maturity.
