In October 2008, the Police Services Board recommended the reconfiguration of the Waterloo Regional Police Services by combining the Drug, Intelligence and Special Response Branches. Terrorism, Hate and  Gun and Gang Enforcement also form part of this team.

The STS Division provides a unified interaction with our community partners to address violent, organized and substance abuse crime.  Skill sharing has been established and resources have been shifted to accommodate investigative and operational needs.
