As Mike repeatedly reminds me, this is not a super awesome fort. This sheet metal enclosure will act as acoustic guarding for a customer’s machine. It is 120 square feet, 10 feet tall at its highest point, and will be padded with sound-dampening foam to protect employees from the hazards of noise in the workplace. It is being designed and built from scratch by RMS and will be installed in the coming weeks. Loud noise in the workplace can not only damage a person’s hearing, but can also be hazardous by distracting employees and disrupting communication. This can create a domino effect of unsafe work conditions and practices. As we take safety seriously in our own operation, we’re happy to be helping provide safety solutions for various other companies in the area!

A water company from out of town brought us a pump from the 1950s to rebuild. It needed to be this specific pump to match their setup, but it was in very poor condition and had many missing parts. We recognized this as an odd job requiring a creative solution to make it economically feasible. To help reduce costs for the customer, we worked with them to locate the same pump in better condition online and refurbish it instead. We bypassed the lengthy time it would take to bring an old piece of equipment back from the dead and provided the customer with their fully operational pump within a few days.

On the lathe today is a warped plastic extrusion manifold. The bolts were loose and the 4000 psi head pressure warped it to the point it's at now. A total of .030" thou warpage. Creating a passage for the molten plastic to escape. Took a skim cut on either side to get it true. Pre heated the die and installed the manifold while machine was hot then torqued bolts to spec.

The problem: A sacrificial gear from a printing press had been stripped during a machine overload. Replacement parts are not available. Machine is scheduled to run to meet production deadlines. The Royal Solution: From diagnosis of printing press and removal of the damaged gear. Our in house design staff reversed engineered the gear and using Solidworks they were able to make a 3D rendering. We 3D printed a replacement gear in house out of ABS plastic with 100% infill density to match shearing strength. We installed the 3D printed gear and the machine is up and running. And the color is pretty close too.
